Ensuring that pre-service teachers avoid compassion fatigue and burnout, both through their own self-care and through accessing support resources, is the mission of HEARTcare. Dr Astrid Kendrick, of the University of Calgary in Canada, believes that the HEARTcare resources that she helped formulate can set pre-service teachers on the path to a truly rewarding teaching career.
